A lot of people turn to YouTube to learn a new skill (photography, playing an instrument, using Adobe Photoshop etc) by watching a video tutorial. What many people don’t realise is that the creators of these videos are often earning money through their YouTube channels.
They achieve this by becoming monetised, all monetised YouTube accounts earn money through the advertisements placed in and around their videos. The best part? You can earn income completely passively though your channel. Whilst it’s recommended you upload consistently, if you decide it’s no longer for you – the videos containing ads will continue to generate income (crazy right?!)
Unfortunately, becoming monetised on YouTube isn’t as easy as it sounds, you have to meet a certain criteria to be accepted, for example accumulating 4,000 hours of watch time across your content (no mean feat!). You can find out further info on this here.
